From mid-April to mid-October the hydrofoils to Capri fill up easily and there can be long lines at the departure ports. We recommend booking tickets in advance.

Ferries from Naples to Procida

Ferries between Naples and Procida run all year round, including on holidays.
You can check current ferry schedules on this page.

Ferries run more frequently from the beginning of April through October, and additional indirect routes are added from other ports in the Bay of Naples. Routes decrease in the slow winter months between November and April. Ferries to Ischia generally also stop on Procida.

You can purchase ferry tickets online in advance or at the port until just a few minutes before departure.
For your own peace of mind, we suggest booking ferry tickets in advance if you are traveling in high season or during holidays and weekends, when ferries may be more crowded. Tickets tend to sell out especially for the return trip from Procida to Naples.

Discounts and Supplements

Children under 2 ride for free; there are discounted tickets for children between 2 and 12.
There is a supplemental charge of EUR 2 for each bag larger than a carry-on (one carry-on bag is included in your ticket price).
You can also bring a bike, canoe, or surfboard on board at an additional charge.

Departure Ports in Naples for Ferries to Procida

Hydrofoils to Procida depart from Molo Beverello and are operated by Caremar and Snav, while other ferries depart from Calata Porta di Massa and are only operated by Caremar. The two ports are about one kilometer apart, so you can either walk or take the free shuttle bus. Purchase your ferry ticket directly at the port from the ticket offices operated by each ferry company.

How to Get to the Molo Beverello Port

  • Taxi: fixed fare of EUR 21 from the Naples Capodichino Airport and EUR 15 from the Stazione Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi) train station.

  • Bus: Alibus airport shuttle bus from either Capodichino or Piazza Garibaldi

  • Metro: Line 1 “Municipio” stop, then a 100-meter walk

How to Get to the Calata Porta di Massa Port

  • Taxi: fixed fare of EUR 21 from the Naples Capodichino Airport and EUR 15 from the Stazione Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi) train station.

  • Bus: Alibus airport shuttle from either Capodichino or Piazza Garibaldi

  • Metro: Line 1 “Università” stop, then a 650-meter walk

Arrival Port on Procida from Naples

Ferries from Naples dock at the Marina Grande port on Procida, where you will also find the bus stop and scooter, bike, and car rental offices to get around the island.

Should I book a ferry or hydrofoil?
Hydrofoil:

  • Faster: it only takes about 40 minutes to get from Naples to Procida

  • Frequent departures: hydrofoils depart about every 40 minutes during the peak times of day

Ferry:

  • Less expensive

  • Outdoor seating

  • Slower: it takes about 60 minutes to get from Naples to Procida

Taking a Vehicle to Procida on the Ferry

Only Caremar ferries departing from Calata di Massa in Naples allow you to embark a vehicle.
If you plan on embarking a vehicle, book your ferry ticket in advance because a confirmed booking allows you to exit the A1 highway and follow the “Napoli Porto” signs directly through the Varco Bausan (a dedicated exit), completely avoiding the heavy downtown traffic.
To reach the Calata di Massa port from downtown, take the Varco Pisacane (a dedicated exit) from Via Marina.
An excellent alternative is simply departing from the port in Pozzuoli so you don't have to take on Naples' famously snarled traffic.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

How many bags can I take on the ferry to Procida?

Ferry tickets include one carry-on bag that weighs up to 10 kilograms. You can bring an unlimited number of additional bags but must pay a supplement of EUR 2 per bag.

Can I bring a bike on the ferry?

Yes, you can bring a bike on the ferrybut must pay a supplement of EUR 6.

If I book my ticket online but miss my ferry, can I take the next departing ferry?

Your ticket is only good for the ferry you booked, but you can request a change by contacting the Traghetti Lines customer service line at +39 0565 912191 (open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) or sending a Whatsapp message to +39 324 863 7973.

Can I change my ferry ticket if I booked it online in advance?

Do I need to book my ferry tickets in advance?

Schedules may change (especially in low season), so don't book your ferry ticket more than a couple of weeks before your travel dates to avoid having to reschedule your departure.

Is the ferry port near the cruise ship port?

The two ports are about 200 meters apart. Once you disembark from your cruise ship, head left (with the sea behind you) towards the Maschio Angioino castle and walk about 3 minutes.

Can I buy my ferry ticket at the dock before boarding?

Yes, if there is still availability you can purchase ferry tickets from the ticket office at the dock until just a few minutes before departure.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes, the ticket office accepts credit and debit cards.

Are the ferry schedules listed here current?

If you click the “book now” button and fill in the dates you want, you can check all the updated departure times. There are usually additional ferry departures scheduled during the busy summer months.

Why can't I find a ferry on the booking page that is listed on the schedule page?

It may mean that there is no availability for that ferry on that date or that you can't book that particular ferry online. Not all ferry companies offer online booking.

Are there ferries to Procida all year long?

Yes, routes from Naples and Pozzuoli depart all year.

Do ferries depart even during inclement weather or rough seas?

Ferry routes may be suspended in case of high winds or rough seas. This happens most often in the winter months and only very rarely in summer.

Are there discounted ferry tickets for groups?

Yes, for groups of 20 passengers or more, there are discounted ferry tickets. Contact the ferry company directly for additional information.

My flight arrives in the late afternoon or evening...can I make it to Procida on the same night?

The last ferries depart from Naples for Procida between 9 and 10 p.m. in the summer, so if you are arriving later than that you will have to book a private boat transfer.

Where can I park before boarding the ferry for Procida?

There are a number of guarded, pay parking areas near the ports where you can leave your car before taking the ferry to Procida.

Can I bring my car to Procida?

During the high season months from April through September, vehicles (cars, motorcycles, and campers) are usually not allowed on the island to avoid damaging the delicate ecosystem.

How much time should I consider between when my plane lands in Naples and when my ferry leaves for Procida?

At the very least, it will take about an hour to get from the airport to the ferry port, if you don't hit traffic or other delays. To be safe, consider about 1.5 to 2 hours, especially during rush hour.

Can I take a day trip to Procida from Rome?

It takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach Procida from Rome, so we do not recommend attempting a day trip to the island.

Is there a ferry route between Capri and Procida?

There is no direct route, so the easiest alternative is to take the ferry from Capri to Naples and then connect to a ferry for Procida.

Should I rent a scooter to visit the island of Procida?

The best way to get around the island by far is a rental scooter, especially if you are visiting Procida as a couple. You can avoid the crowded public transportation and get explore the island independently at your own pace, stopping to visit the sights and beaches that interest you. There are a handful of scooter rental agencies located in Marina Grande and they generally do not need to be booked in advance.
